Surgical Technology Programs

This program provides classroom instruction, laboratory practice and hospital experience to prepare students to function in the surgical setting. Graduates are qualified to apply the principles of asepsis in providing patient care, provide a safe environment for the surgical patient, function under all aspects of surgical techniques, demonstrate proper preparation and specific use of equipment and supplies used for surgical procedures, differentiate sterilization methods for special equipment and instruments necessary for special surgical procedures, work as a team member, demonstrate awareness of the step-by-step procedure for specific surgical procedures and demonstrate a code of professional behavior. Graduates of the program may also apply their skills in related areas such as delivery room, emergency room and veterinary surgical practice.
