Associate of Science Programs
The Associate of Science degree is designed for students who wish to gain knowledge in the area of science or plan to transfer to a four-year university. By completing one of these degrees at a Wisconsin technical college, you will generally satisfy the first two years of general education requirements for various majors in four-year colleges and universities and obtain an educational foundation in business, sciences, mathematics and other sciences.
If you have a particular four-year institution in mind, verify the transferability of credits to that college for graduation and your major. If you have not selected a major field of study, enrolling in this program will give you exposure to several areas of study and a broad preparation for transfer.

MATC's Associate of Science – Economics: Pre-Major Degree
Economic issues affect all of us, whether as consumers, workers, producers, investors, or citizens. The program provides a solid foundation and development of essential analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills that prepare students for careers in research, banking, sales, insurance, private firms, real estate, consulting, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.
You will benefit from the improvement of your economic literacy as you become more competent and confident in making personal and social decisions regarding a variety of economic issues that you will encounter throughout your lifetime. The studied subjects will enhance their comprehension and interpretation of local and global events and issues, and economic knowledge will be attractive to employers. You will gain an excellent understanding of various topics, develop financial awareness, and establish a solid foundation for transferring to a four-year institution to major in economics or a business-related field.
MATC's Associate of Science - Chemical Technology: Pre-Major Degree
The Associate of Science Chemical Technology: Pre-Major provides the first two years of bachelor’s degree credit courses that will transfer to four-year colleges and universities. MATC’s state-of-the-art labs give students an advantage as they prepare for bachelor’s degree studies and the workforce.
Courses emphasize chemistry and prepare you for both transfer to a four-year degree program and to begin work in an industrial chemistry lab. Summer research/internship opportunities are available.

MATC's Food Science Technology: Pre-Major Degree
The Associate of Science Food Science Technology: Pre-Major provides the first two years of bachelor’s degree credit courses that will transfer to four-year colleges and universities. MATC’s state-of-the-art labs give students an advantage as they prepare for bachelor’s degree studies and the workforce.
Courses emphasize biological and physical sciences and prepare you for both transfer to a four-year degree program and to begin work in an industrial food lab. Summer research/internship opportunities are available.
MATC's Associate of Science - Psychology: Pre-Major Degree
Psychology encompasses all aspects of the study of behavioral, emotional, developmental, and cognitive processes, employing a broad spectrum of approaches, from the social to the biological. This program reflects the diversity of psychology as a science and profession.
Department affiliations with mental health and community organizations enable students to integrate their academic studies with practical experience opportunities for applied research.
This pre-major program prepares students for career possibilities in psychology, education, social and welfare services, health services and industry. The program fulfills the course requirements for entering most psychology undergraduate programs. A background in psychology, combined with specialized training in other disciplines at MATC, may be especially useful in preparing for careers in human resources, culinary arts, nursing, social work, teacher education, early childhood education, accounting, architectural technology, AODA counseling, music, and art.
