This specialized, high-demand training program concentrates on aircraft engine and propeller systems. Program is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration. (A companion technical diploma program in airframe maintenance also is offered.)

You can earn the Aviation Maintenance Technician – General certificate on the way to completing this technical diploma.
Additional program details: You are required to attend a minimum of 400 hours of the General Aviation Technician component (offered each fall semester) prior to enrolling in either technical diploma program.
Students must maintain a 2.0 grade-point average in the general component to be eligible for the Airframe and Powerplant programs. To successfully complete either the Airframe or Powerplant program, you must attend 750 hours of the respective section, and you are required to pay for any missed class time.
A background in mathematics and the physical sciences is recommended. Keys to your success will be a high mechanical aptitude, the ability to pay attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently under stress.
