MADISON - The Governor and Legislature’s biennial budget investments in the Wisconsin Technical College System reaffirm the critical role technical colleges play in bolstering our state’s economy.
The 2023-25 budget increase of $9.38 million in general aid will enable Wisconsin’s workforce to earn family-sustaining wages in high-demand jobs right now and in the future.
This budget strengthens the state’s health care workforce pipeline in the areas of dentistry and oral hygiene by providing $20 million for technical colleges’ dental health programs. These funds will enable technical colleges to expand and enhance programs in rural and urban communities across the state.
This budget also increases access to career and technical educational opportunities. By providing an additional $2 million for Workforce Advancement Training grants, Wisconsin’s existing workforce will have new opportunities to reskill and upskill. The biennial budget also helps address rising textbook costs by investing an additional $3 million in technical colleges’ open educational resources and course materials.
