The Wisconsin Technical College System thanks Governor Evers, Secretary Hughes and Secretary Pechacek for the $16.5 million investment in workforce innovation happening at Lakeshore Technical College, Northcentral Technical College, Nicolet College and Northwood Technical College. Our colleges work closely with the employers in their communities to provide a highly skilled workforce, adept in specific areas of expertise needed by local employers.
WTCS appreciates the governor’s support, along with DWD and WEDC’s recognition that our colleges are at the forefront of innovation in education and providing workforce solutions.
Lakeshore Technical College will use their $1.64 million grant to meet underserved populations and provide a mobile training lab to fill manufacturing labor shortages.
Northcentral Technical College (NTC) will receive $5 million as a sub-recipient of the Wisconsin Forestry Center’s grant to build a state-of-the-art sawmill complex with a mill simulator, creating the state’s only start-to-finish wood products training center at NTC’s Wood Technology Center of Excellence in Antigo. Nicolet College is receiving funding as part of this grant to provide education on their new Forestry Equipment Maintenance technical certificate.
Northwood Tech will use its $9.8 million grant to partner with a local nonprofit developer to provide rural multi-family housing projects that include classroom spaces and mobile training equipment.
WTCS congratulates Lakeshore Technical College, Northcentral Technical College, Nicolet College and Northwood Tech, and their community partners, for tackling pressing workforce needs.
