The Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS) comprises three main elements: The WTCS Board, the System Office and the
16 Wisconsin technical colleges and their respective Boards.

The System Office is the administrative agency of the WTCS Board and an agency of Wisconsin at the forefront of advancing higher education and workforce development. The System Office helps ensure quality, accountability, alignment and efficiency. We offer dynamic career opportunities that impact and shape the future of education and economic development.
Among its primary activities, the System Office:
- Implements statewide policies and standards the WTCS Board establishes
- Manages state and federal grant funding, including funding received under the federal Carl Perkins and Adult Education and Family Literacy Acts
- Administers state funding provided for technical college programs and services
- Reviews and approves colleges' course and program curriculum
- Approves colleges' facilities projects
- Manages the System's data infrastructure and reporting framework
- Advocates on behalf of the System with state and federal executive and legislative offices, monitors and reports on federal requirements related to technical college operations
- Prepares the System's biennial budget requests
